Central Coast Highland Dancing Inc's latest venture, The Highland Warriors, has stepped things up a bit, with the all male troupe competing individually in their first Highland dancing Competition.

The boys, Myles (age 11), Simon (11), Nicholas (10), Ben and Mackenzie (both 9), entered the St George Eisteddfod, in the Trophy dance Fling, Swords and Title Fling/ Lilt with great success. They shared 3 placings between them including a 3rd and 4th in the Beginners Trophy Dance behind a fellow Central Coast Highland Dancer.

The Highland Warriors concept was created by Douglas McFarland and Katrina O'Callaghan and has grown from strength to strength with teaching assistance from Kylie McFarland and Kyle Marston and technical direction from CCHDI Director of Finance and Administration and Life Member Veronica McFarland.

One of the great sites at the weekend's competition was the support from the Warriors families and friends with each boy having many "Warriorfolk" watching on proudly from the audience.

The Warriors next compete at the International Highland Dancing Championships and supporting events, in their hometown of Gosford. The boys will make their performance debut at the opening of "The Internationals"; Douglas McFarland's Down Under the Kilt; Reel Men Do Dance, where they will join 4 time World Champion Tony Cargill and International dance Champions Cameron and Vincent Collins, Desmond Worfolk (Canada), Steven MacRae (USA) and Kyle Marston and Douglas McFarland (Australia).

Central Coast Highland Dancing Inc is very proud of it's Warriors and is looking forward to watching the dancer's grow within the sport. We welcome any male dancers passing through the Central Coast to join in a class and share the fun with classes directly aimed at the interests of Male dancers.
